“Our printer's representative Dee Grisez stopped by the house on Friday to hand off one copy of the 2008 Symposium brochure - hot off the binding machine - and also to show us its flaws before we pointed them out to her. (We wouldn't have noticed them had she not specifically identified [them].) Suzanne and I actually started laughing when she showed us these "flaws." They are the kind of thing that only people "in the biz" would notice and they speak to the extremely difficult binding challenge this particular brochure presented to the team at the bindery. Not only was there a tremendous amount of handwork involved in feeding the printed signatures on to the binding machine (which is not normally required), but the bindery even had to re-tool its machinery to accommodate the complicated design of our brochure.
The result, however, is quite spectacular and we feel blessed to have all these wonderful people in our lives - our graphic designer Janell Edwards, printer's rep Dee Grisez, and all of the people at Emerald City Graphics who don't just show up for work to do a job - they show up caring passionately about their craft, and they take immense pride in doing the job right.”
